The house is getting new floors. I am a DIY-er to the max, and that means rejecting delivery if it costs me anything. 1000 lbs of cargo is no issue, and it can take scrap to the dump when I’m done

My car was a truck too last year during waste removal day! Well....it was only taking things down to the curb, but still...

Yep. I did the same with my FiST for work. I once made an emergency chemical delivery 100+ miles to a customer. It was like it was meant to be.

To date I have used my hatchbacks to move:

1000 lbs of flooring (my wife had the other half in her 2016 mazda3)
4 loads of scrap the dump in a weekend
5 33-inch Duratracs and 5 wheels in the boxes, not yet mounted (one trip)
Patio furniture
A 5 foot tall dresser with the hatch closed
Many loads of lumber for garden beds, furniture, garage shelves, etc...
Innumerable car parts
Tools, the last of which is a portable 10" table saw (not small)
An engine
At least 1 transmission
Huge loads of moving boxes, multiple times

I love my hatch

Floating floor, nails would ruin it

Somewhere I have a pic from years ago of my 2006 Mazda3 with a bunch of brick pavers. Suspension was notably lower .
